Charleston International Airport (CHS) is not only South Carolina’s busiest airport by far (a little less than 4 million passengers carried in 2017), but it is also the only one in the state serving every single time zone in the continental USA, with direct flights to Seattle, Boston and more than 20 other cities in between. Many of these destinations are served by Air France and its Sky Team partner, Delta. For example, you can fly from Charleston to Paris with just one connecting flight at Atlanta thanks to Air France, which also flies to destinations right across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The airport can be reached from downtown Charleston by I-26 or I-526. Allow between 20 minutes to an hour depending on when you are leaving. There are several parking lots – the parking deck is closest to the terminal building. Rideshare services will drop you off between ticketing and the center entry doors. Taxis and shuttle services will also drop you off right in front of the terminal building. CARTA’s XP4 service runs hourly, with a reduced service on Sundays, from the Visitor Center to the airport, in 30 to 35 minutes.
