Charlotte Douglas International Airport: handling more take-offs and landings than almost any other airport!
Charlotte Douglas International Airport recently overtook Newark Airport in terms of passenger boardings, placing it 10th in the US rankings, not to mention 7th in the world for aircraft movements. The airport welcomed more than 22 million passenger boardings in 2017 to over 160 destinations. One of those destinations is Paris, reached by a connecting flight from Atlanta with Delta or Air France. From the French capital, the world is at your feet with Air France’s extensive network of non-stop flights to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Top international routes from CLT are heavily focused on the Caribbean region, with Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana taking three of the top four destination slots, the exception being London Heathrow.

Before taking flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, passengers can visit the Carolinas Aviation Museum, which is a short drive from the terminal building. It contains over 50 aircraft, including the iconic ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ airplane flown by ‘Sully’ Sullenberger.
The inhabitants of Charlotte do not call the city center ‘uptown’ just to be different – Trade and Tyron, where Native American trading paths once crossed and formed the epicenter of the early settlement, are on a small hill.
The airport is a short drive from Charlotte Center City (approximately 15 to 35 minutes via US-74W). I-77, I-85 and I-485 offer access from other areas of the city. Parking options comprise three long-term parking lots, a daily deck, daily lot, hourly deck, two valet facilities and a cell phone lot. Free shuttles will take you to the terminal. The CATS route 5 Sprinter departs from the Charlotte Transportation Center and takes 23 to 27 minutes to the airport. The CATS route 60 – Tyvola Road bus also serves the airport, as do Uber, Lyft, taxis and shuttle services.
