Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate. The winters are mild, comparatively warm, dry and sunny, with temperatures around 15 degrees Celsius. Barcelona's summers are dry and hot, the hottest month being August when temperatures go up to 33 - 34 degrees Celsius. The rainiest time of the year is autumn, from October to December. Visitors travelling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Barcelona (BCN) will not need a visa for their holiday, unless they plan on staying longer than 90 days. If not, your passport will need to valid for the entire duration of your stay.

How to get to Barcelona's city center from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport?

Once your flight from Los Angeles to Barcelonais over, you will land at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, Terminal 1. The city centre is then just over 7 miles away. To get there, several means of transport are at your disposal:

  • They are very practical and leave every 15 minutes, linking the airport to the city centre.
  • The TMB network has buses to the city centre all day and all night.
  • The RENFE train leaves the airport every 30 minutes to take you to the city centre.
  • Available day and night just outside the Arrivals Hall, they can take you to the city centre in 25 minutes.

At all times of the year, Barcelona promises an enjoyable stay. Once here, enjoy long strolls around the city, marvel at the famous works of Picasso and Miró, and dedicate some time to observing the city's inconceivably unique architecture. Make sure to make the most of the city's many excellent tapas bars and restaurants.

Get on a walking tour through the city's majestic boulevards and admire some of the masterful works by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Enjoy the sight of the sinuous facade of Casa Milà, and the fascinating exterior of Casa Batlló. Continue your walk towards the dazzling Palau Güell that reopened in 2011 after seven years of restoration. Then head to the ever-changing Sagrada Familia that is being constructed and built in a stunning and surreal quest for architectural perfection.

In Barcelona, combining culture and decadent indulgence is easy. The city is punctuated with excellent new galleries, bookstores and cultural centers – explore them stopping for some tapas in between. Make sure to go to the Picasso Museum and Joan Miró Foundation to see some of the iconic works by the 20th century artists.
