Summer is hands down the best time to visit Geneva. The months July and August brings about the best weather for visitors to the city, with an average high of 26 °C and low of 14 °C and the months with the least rainfall. Of course, peak season also means peak crowds, so if you want to come and visit when there are fewer crowds, the shoulder seasons spring and autumn should also offer pleasant weather for discovering what Geneva has to offer.
One of the good things about arriving at the Geneva Airport is that it is in close proximity to the city center. Located just about 4 km from the center, you can easily reach the central station Gare Cornavin via train from the terminal in only 6 minutes! Aside from the train, there is also the cheaper bus option. Taxis and shuttles are also in abundance at the terminal, and finding one to take you downtown is never a problem.
Geneva is among the French-speaking cities of Switzerland, a country which boasts four official languages: French, German, Italian, and Rumantsch. French influence is felt throughout, but Geneva remains authentically Swiss through its watchmaking traditions, cuisine, and even wine. If you're visiting the Swiss city soon, read on for some of our favorite things to do while in Geneva.
