When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

As the capital located in the westernmost part of Europe, Lisbon is in a privileged location of having some of the best weathers in the region. Aside from guaranteed sun almost year-round, the temperatures are also pleasant whatever season it is of the year. However, if you are looking to enjoy the city at its very best, we suggest going in the months of March through May and September to October. The temperatures around these months range from 18 to 23 °C, which is not too hot and not too cold for sightseeing and walking around Lisbon’s beautiful streets. Additionally, there are also fewer crowds around these times.

How to get from Humberto Delgado airport to the city center?

The airport is located 9 km from the city center. To reach the city, you can take the subway, which has a direct line to the center. The Aeroporto – Saldanha line lets you reach downtown Lisbon in less than 30 minutes. Aside from the train, there is also the option to take a bus from the airport. There are several bus services at the bus terminal. The buses however have a minimum baggage size allowed, so do check that before arrival. Alternatively, taxis are also available at the airport.

What are some of the best things to do in the city of Lisbon?

Lisbon is rich in things to explore beyond its colors streets and districts, which you can explore via its cute yellow trams that have been in operation as far back as 1873. There is its culture and music, as well as cuisine, waiting to be experienced.

    • Listen to Fado: Fado is melancholic music accompanied by soulful vocals and classical guitar. It is often played in the bars of hip districts such as Bairro Alto and Alfama.
    • Treat yourself to a Portuguese meal: Portuguese food is comforting and hearty. As the capital of Portugal, Lisbon is home to many great restaurants offering local fare. Try Bota Sal for steak and seafood, or the trendy A Cevicheria for its ceviche.
    • Wander its museums: Lisbon is also known for its intricately-designed tiles. If you want to know more about its history and place in Portuguese culture, we suggest stopping by the National Tile Museum. The National Museum of Ancient Art is also worth a visit for anyone who is looking to dive deep into Portuguese art from the 16th and 19th centuries.
