What are some of the best things to do in Prague?
- Explore the Old Town. The historical heart of the Czech capital looks exactly how you'd imagine a medieval town to look, only better. Spend a few hours strolling through the streets of the Old Town and check all the medieval landmarks off your list – the Old Town City Hall and the famous Týn Cathedral, the Astronomical Clock, St. Nicholas Church, and the Jan Hus Monument. Cross the magnificent Charles Bridge to get to the Lesser town part of Prague on the other side of the river.
- To get the most impressive view of the Prague Castle, come to the Charles Bridge either at dawn or at the sunset, when the setting sun paints the old city in soft, pinkish hues.
- Whenever in doubt, go for a beer. It is no secret that Prague has excellent breweries, and here, you can never go wrong with ordering a beer. The lightest beer contains minimum alcohol, and it is not an unusual sight to see locals drinking beer at breakfast. Check out some of the city's oldest breweries, like U Medvidku, founded in 1466, to learn more about the venerated traditions behind the brewing of Czech beer.
- Try kolace, the traditional Czech pastry made with cottage cheese and jam.
