Travel on Air France’s New York to Beirut flight and you’ll touch down at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport(BEY). Located 6 miles south of the city center, the only direct transportation option from the airport into the city is by taxi or rental car. Local buses run from the airport roundabout, but this is a kilometer from the actual terminal building. More information is available from Air France’s dedicated Airport section.
US citizens travelling from New York JFK to Beirut will receive a one-month visa. Their passport must be valid for three months from the date of entry to Lebanon and must not contain any Israeli stamps or visas as entry will be refused to such travelers. Travelers are also advised not to disclose details of previous travel to Israel.
Temperatures reach the 80s and even 90°F in July and August. April-May and September through November are extremely pleasant months from a weather point of view, and the sea is warm enough for bathingfor most people up to November.
Beirut’s extremely pleasant climate makes it a good city for just strolling along the famous Corniche, the American University, around Martyrs’ Square and Gemmayzeh’s bohemian cafés and restaurants.
