Nairobi airport (NBO) is located 18 km away from the city center. We recommend that you contact your hotel before arrival to find out whether it provides a shuttle service from the airport. Otherwise, use one of the three transfer options to get to the city from the airport – by taxi, by bus or with a mini-bus. A taxi journey, the most popular transfer option, takes around 40 minutes depending on the time of the day. You can also choose to travel by bus. Line 34 runs every 20 minutes Monday to Friday between 6am and 9pm. It takes about 60 minutes to reach the city center by bus or by mini-bus, called ‘matatu’ by the locals.
